We are a volunteer fire department with 23 firefighters, 2 stations. We have 6 trucks. We are located in the middle part of Cherokee County, covering an area of 26 square miles.
The Gideon Volunteer Fire Department has earned an ISO Class 9 rating. This has lowered the home insurance costs for all of the residents of our coverage area. If you or your insurance company have any questions on this please call the numbers listed below.
In addition to providing fire protection and auto rescue, we provide a First Responder service in cooperation with the two county ambulance services, having 5 EMT’s with 4 First Responders.
We rely on funding generated by our membership dues and our fund-raisers throughout the year, as well as some monies from the County and the State.
